NATIVE APPS. Such apps are installed on the device, and you can launch them by clicking the
app icon. You can install them, using one of the app stores (like Play Market for Android, App
Store for iOS, etc.). Apps of this type are developed for a specific platform and can utilize all the
device features like cameras, GPS sensors, accelerometers, compasses, contact lists, and
anything else. They can also recognize gestures (standard operating system gestures preset or
entirely new gestures used exclusively in a specific app). Native apps can access the device
notification system and continue to operate offline.
MOBILE WEB APPS. They are not really apps as we know them. They are actually websites that
look and feel like native apps in many ways but cannot completely replace them. They are
commonly coded in HMTL5, and you can launch them using your web browser. While launching
mobile web apps, users carry out all the same actions when visiting any other website and can
“install” them on their device desktop, creating a website bookmark. Web apps became widely
popular when HMTL5 started developing and users realized they could access most native app
features just by visiting a website using a habitual browser. As of today, it is difficult to draw a
clear line separating web apps from common web pages as HTML5 functionality is constantly
growing, and more and more websites start using HTML5.
HYBRID APPS. They look like a symbiosis between native and web apps. You can download
them from app stores like native apps, and they can utilize most features of the device on
which they are installed. Their platforms are based on HTML5 just like those of web apps. They
are processed using a web browser built into the apps themselves. Companies often develop
such hybrid apps as an addition to their existing websites to serve as shells so that their app
could be available on the app store list. This approach allows companies to avoid spending huge
amounts of money on developing standalone mobile apps and takes much less time.
